Chinese, circa 2nd century B.C. to 2nd century A.D.,a cast bronze staff finial depicting a mythical bird mounted on a tubular base with well-defined feathers, claws and facial features. Mounted on an old custom base. Lg. 3 in. 7.7 cm.
