A striking Plateau beaded horse-design flat bag, featuring a finely executed image of Dan Patch, the famed American pacer who set a world record of 1:55 in 1906. The horse's head, rendered in red beads against a light blue background, is outlined and detailed with exceptional precision, the composition framed in a red wool trade cloth border. The reverse is made from green wool cloth, quilt-stitched in a radiating zigzag pattern. Ht. 13 ½, wd. 11 ½ in.
