Circa 15th century, a classic Ayuthia style sandstone head of Buddha with downcast eyes, in good condition with remains of black lacquer and losses to earlobes, mounted on a custom wood base. Ht. 14 1/4 in. with stand 18 1/4 in.

Provenance: From the deceased estate of an M.I.T. professor, Massachusetts; Kennett Brown collection, Ja Jolla, California, purchased before 1991 (Appraised by Norman Hurst in 1991).
