- Lot Description
Ptolemaic period, circa 2nd-1st century B.C., possibly from a sphinx, depicted wearing the nemes headdress with a (mostly lost) central Uranus, the headcloth tucked behind the pronounced ears, the youthful face with finely rimmed almond-shaped eyes and full lips. With wear and losses as shown. On custom marble base. Ht. 8 1/4 in. 21 cm. 12 5/8 in. 32 cm.
