Alaska, 19th century, hand-hewn from a single piece of hardwood, the oval form features a narrow horizontal slit for the eyes. The surfaces show a smooth, darkened patina with wear consistent with traditional. Mounted on a custom stand. Ht. with stand 4 ½, wd. 5 in. Provenance: The Paul and Mary Thiry collection, Seattle.
