Indians Fishing, two watercolors on paper paintings, each signed lower right, "O'Brien 1875," famed together, inscribed on backing board, "Painted by O'Brien President of the Royal Art Society of Canada." Size of each painting 4 ¼ x 7 ¼, frame 19 ¾ x 16 in.
Provenance: Private collection, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Alexander Gallery, New York City. Note: L. R. O'Brien exhibited with, and was a member of, the newly established Ontario Society of Artists. He became vice-president of the society in 1873 and was chosen to be the first president of the Canadian Academy of Arts by the Governor General, the Marquess of Lorne, from 1880 to 1890.
