The Ship "Richard McManus" (caught by a rogue wave) off Cape Rosse, Oct 20, 1866 (as inscribed verso), oil on academy board, unsigned, possibly painted by a member of the crew. In gold gesso frame, OS: 9 1/4" x 13", SS: 6 1/4" x 10". Good condition. The ship was built in Brunswick, Maine, was named after a famous Captain and Owner from that town, did the New York to Montevideo run. Cape Rosse is part of Nunavut, Canada.
