Homage to Michelangelo (a.k.a. Threesome at Dr. Shekter's), 1993
Gelatin silver print. 1/25.
Accompanied by a letter and receipt addressed from Probst to Charles Cowles, signed and numbered #1 of 25.A fiber photograph by the American photographer Kenneth "Ken" Probst. From the 1980s onwards, Probst was hired to photograph adult film stars in San Francisco, during which he began a series of artful behind-the-scenes images which he would exhibit and later publish under the title Pornegrafik (1998). This photograph was sold directly to the celebrated American art collector Charles Cowles, and is accompanied by a bill of sale to Cowles which notes the work as having been taken during the shooting of Threesome at Dr. Shekter's.
