Title, Date of Manufacture: Kniglicher Kronen-Orden mit Schwertern, c. late 19th century

Additional Information: This is a fine example of the Royal Crown Order with Swords, a Prussian order of merit instituted by King Wilhelm I in 1861. The version with swords signifies a military award and features a crown in relief on the obverse medallion, surrounded by the motto "Gott Mit Uns." The reverse bears the founding date, Den 18 Oktober 1861, in blue enamel. Cross arms are textured and bordered by smooth, polished edges. The "W" hallmark is likely attributable to the Berlin-based firm Wagner & Sohn, one of the premier manufacturers of Imperial German orders.
Description: The Kniglicher Kronen-Orden (Royal Crown Order) was awarded for both military and civil merit. This particular example is from the 3rd Class with Swords, intended for distinguished military service. The attention to craftsmanship is notable sharp edge bevels, clean gilding, and delicately placed swords crossing through the arms of the cross. Such awards were highly valued by Prussian officers and remain coveted among collectors of Imperial German orders.
