Daro Flood (Arizona, 1954-2017), "Cowman", artist-cast bronze sculpture on wooden base, with incised signature and edition number 8/30
height 29 in. x width 22 in. x depth 13 in.
Provenance: Property from a private collection in San Antonio, Texas
Daro Flood was born and educated in Scottsdale, Arizona, and by age 18 had developed such extensive knowledge of Native American arts and skills that he was appointed conservator of the Alaska State Museum’s collections in Juneau. He later studied sculpture and developed a distinguished body of bronze work depicting Plains and Northwest Coast Indians, as well as cowboy and Western life, informed by extensive research and expertise in beadwork, wood and ivory carving, quillwork, and birchbark. "Cowman" is Flood's most iconic and sought-after sculpture.
