- Lot Description
Hans Martin Schleeh (Germany / Canada, 1928-2001), "Abstrait 1968", abstract biomorphic sculpture carved from a single block of stone with pierced openings, fine-grained and matte texture (likely sandstone or limestone), incised signature at base
height 17 in. x width 12 in. x depth 11 in. (including base)
Provenance: Originally purchased in 1968 from the Dominion Gallery (Montreal, Quebec), which also represented Henry Moore and Hans Arp; kept in the same family collection and passed by inheritance to the present
Note: this lot includes the original 1968 invoice from Dominion Gallery listing the item as "Abstrait 1968", as well as an exhibition booklet from the period
