Condition: Very Good; wood stock & forend pieces have mostly light wear w/ gouge on left side of stock; barrel & receiver retain high condition blue finish w/ approx. 90+% coverage; some areas of wear & patina have turned a gray/brown; some scattered patches of pitting & light rust; case colors remain on lever, hammer, trigger & buttplate w/ some fading; loading gate has nitre blue finish; bore is excellent & bright w/ strong rifling Includes: musket style barrel & forend w/ 3 barrel bands; carbine style butt; no cleaning rod in butt compartment; rear ladder sight; full length magazine tube Notes: Letter from Cody Firearms Museum shipping it on September 18, 1903, to an unlisted address as part of Order 13880. This rifle was likely part of a shipment of 700 (serial number range: 569,000-571,000) musket models to Nicaragua in September of 1903. Some were allegedly never uncrated and in un-issued condition, eventually being sent back to the U.S. to be resold in the 1950s.
