Kenneth Wyatt (Texas / New Mexico, 1930-2021), bluebonnet landscape, oil on canvas, signed lower right
sight: 24 x 48 in., frame: 32 x 57 in.
Provenance: Property from a home in Kingman, Kansas
A self-taught painter, Kenneth Wyatt began painting as a hobby while he was a preacher. In 1967, during a speaking engagement in Fort Worth, Texas, he began doodling on a napkin. Dmitri Vale, a professional artist seated next to Wyatt, noticed the sketch and urged him to pursue art professionally. After the event, Wyatt invested his $500 speaker's fee in art supplies.
