A 1912 British Gold Sovereign struck during the reign of King George V (1865–1936), featuring the iconic St. George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci. The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of King George V with the Latin legend *GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP.*, denoting “George V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India.” The reverse displays the celebrated image of St. George mounted on horseback slaying the dragon, one of the most enduring and recognizable motifs in world coinage. The date 1912 appears in the exergue beneath the design.
The sovereign is struck in 22-karat gold (.917 fine) with a gross weight of 7.98 grams and an actual gold weight of approximately 0.2354 troy ounces. First introduced in 1817 following the Great Recoinage, the gold sovereign became a cornerstone of international trade and one of the most trusted gold bullion coins worldwide. By the reign of George V, sovereigns were circulated extensively across the British Empire and remain highly sought after by collectors and investors alike.
The coin displays warm original luster with attractive golden surfaces and well-defined details in both portrait and reverse imagery. A classic example of pre–World War I British gold coinage, offering both historical significance and intrinsic precious metal value.
The coin is housed in a Jefferson Coin & Bullion folded plastic envelope.

10. Shipping and/or pick-up of each lot item is ultimately the responsibility of the purchaser. As a convenience for certain lot items, Lion and Unicorn will include a quote for available in-house shipping on each invoice. Shipping quotes are based on volume and size of the items, in addition to distance. If purchaser wishes to arrange their own shipping or pick-up of the lot item(s), such arrangements must be arranged and confirmed to Lion and Unicorn within the time period outlined in Paragraph 6 above. With respect to lot items for which Lion and Unicorn does not provide an in-house shipping quote, upon request we will provide the purchaser with a list of shippers who deliver to destinations within the United States and overseas. Some property that is sold at auction can be subject to laws governing export from the U.S., such as items that include material from some endangered species and subject to CITES regulations. Import restrictions from foreign countries are subject to these same governing laws and CITES regulations. Granting of licensing for import or export of goods from local authorities is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Denial or delay of licensing will not constitute cancellation or delay in payment for the total purchase price of these lots.
