CLASSICAL SYMMETRY evokes a rustic vineyard aesthetic.
Laura Grisi (1939-2017) was a Greek-born artist who worked primarily in Italy and New York. She studied at the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris and became active in the Italian art world in the mid-1960s, with her first solo shows at the Galleria Il Segno in Rome in 1964 and the Galleria del Ariete in Milan in 1965. Her works are included in the collections of a number of institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Brooklyn Museum, the Weisman Museum in Los Angeles, and the Galleria Civica del Arte Moderna in Turin. This piece is made from wood, wax, bronze, granite, and plaster. CLASSICAL SYMMETRY gives the viewer a sense of being at a farmhouse winery, with wood barns and barrels transforming freshly harvested grapes into wine.
