• Lot Description

  Splendid watercolor painting by artist Noel Harry Leaver, titled Under the Archway, Tunis. This work captures a sunlit street scene in Tunis, with figures in traditional dress walking beneath a large stone arch flanked by detailed Moorish architecture, domes, and minarets. Rendered in Leaver's signature style with precise architectural draftsmanship and luminous color washes, the scene evokes both the warmth and vibrancy of North Africa. Noel Harry Leaver was a British painter and educator best known for his architectural watercolors of sun-drenched scenes from North Africa and the Mediterranean. A graduate of the Royal College of Art and a Rome Scholar in Decorative Painting, Leaver traveled extensively, developing a distinctive style that combined architectural precision with atmospheric use of color and light.
