A Rolex Submariner Date stainless steel automatic wristwatch, reference 1680, serial number 5.2XX,XXX, featuring a black dial with date aperture beneath a Cyclops magnifier and unidirectional rotating dive bezel. Introduced in the late 1960s, the reference 1680 was the first Submariner to incorporate a date display, marking a significant evolution of Rolex’s iconic professional diving watch. Water resistant to 660 feet (200 meters), it combines the robust Oyster case with Rolex’s automatic chronometer-certified movement, establishing the design that would define the Submariner Date for generations. This example retains its original bracelet and is fitted with later Rolex service hands.
