An oil on canvas marine painting by Warren Sheppard (American, 1858–1937), depicting a single sailing vessel beneath a luminous full moon with its reflection stretching across gently rolling water. Sheppard studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts before continuing his artistic training in Paris under Jean-Léon Gérôme. He became known for his atmospheric coastal and harbor scenes, particularly moonlit marine subjects that found a broad American audience during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Recently reframed with a protective dust cover. Signature very faint and difficult to discern.
