John Otterson (American, 1905-1991)

Born in Pennsylvania on Aug. 25, 1905. Otterson earned a B.F.A. degree from Yale University and then was associate artist on a mural for the Empire State Bldg.
From 1932-42 he worked in Hollywood as an art director for various movie studios. He then served in the Army during WWII. From 1946-55 he taught at the Los Angeles Art Institute and during the 1960s at UCLA. Otterson died in Los Angeles on Dec. 22, 1991.
