Letter is written on 8 in. x 6.5 in. House of Commons letterhead. October 22, 1945, was a significant day in the history of the British Parliament concerning demobilization.Winston Churchill expressed his concerns about the speed of demobilization and suggested that the process was too slow and could hinder Britain post-war economic recovery. Alexander Walkden, the Deputy Chief Whip for the House of Lords, also spoke during this debate.He defended the government actions, stating that their plans were based on the advice of experts and that they were considering Churchill suggestions. This handwritten letter appears to be related to the governmental dispute between the two men. It is written on House of Commons letterhead and is dated Oct. 22, 1945 and signed by Winston Churchill.
