These figures, created by the Songye people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are believed to possess magical powers and are used by diviners to contact spirits. Important figures to connect with ancestors and spirits, offering protection and blessings. They are typically made from wood and may contain magical charges or other materials.Characterized by an elongated body, pointed breasts, and an angular head with a distinctive coiffure, these smaller figures were used for personal connections with ancestors, while larger figures were used for community protection. These figures were considered powerful and were often kept in special spaces, handled only by their designated guardians.
Condition: Good Condition, showing age. No damage or apparent defects to report. If documentation is not listed or photographed, the lot is sold without documentation. Pick-Up: The buyer is responsible for arranging pick-up and shipment of all purchased lots. If sold items have not been removed from Woodard Lipe within thirty (30) days, Woodard Lipe may charge a storage fee of $10.00 per day.
