Exploring Mauro Corda’s Artworks

Corda's work focuses on depicting people in a variety of roles, including situations, environments, as well as animal sculptures. Rather than limiting himself to a single medium, the artist is a master at a number of them, including stone carving and metalworking. Artistic work by Mauro Corda focuses on the body. A lot of his sculptures, both figurative and monumental, relate to the limits of our bodies and our sense of identity. His life-size works are realized using iron, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, and glass, uninhibited by social inclinations, showing the human form in all its fullness. In his work, the sculptor focuses on surface details, including the texture of the flesh and the coldness of the material. It is the modeler's art that masters light and breathes life into sculpture.

In his figurative sculptures, Mauro Corda combines elements of classical and modernism to create a unique expression personal to him. Working in metals such as bronze, aluminum, and stainless steel. His figures are based largely on traditional interpretation, and yet they go beyond historical interpretation by posing them in unconventional ways or adding unexpected details. One of his sculptures, The Reliquary, features a gilt-bronze arm with a syringe positioned inside. With this element, the sculpture acquires a mysterious and poetic character that distinguishes it as contemporary artwork, despite its presence of traditional forms and materials.
