English, 18th century. A late Queen Anne oak secretary bookcase, In two parts, the upper case with molded broken arch pediment above a star inlaid frieze over a pair of arched paneled doors opening to an interior fitted with two adjustable shelves above eight pigeon holes and four drawers over a pair of candle slides, the lower case with a slant lid opening to a central star inlaid removable removable prospect compartment with two hidden pulls outs on the back flanked by two pigeon holes over a single drawer and four stacked small drawers, all with brass turned pulls and green baize inset writing surface above four graduated long drawers ending on shaped bracket feet. Approximate height 86.87", width 39", depth 23.25" (front bracket to back bracket).
Structurally sound. Bonnet top with repairs, chips and horizontal crack to left pediment. Interior of upper case back with shrinkage and traces of old glue. Exterior back with braces. Scattered chips, nicks, abrasions and minor repairs as would be expected with age and usage.
