- Lot Description
Child’s rocking horse constructed with a carved and painted wooden horse figure mounted on a red-painted wooden glider base. The horse retains a painted surface with mottled decoration, a carved head with applied bridle, and remnants of a mane and tail. Fitted with a saddle form seat in black upholstery, now worn.
The glider base features shaped supports and a stretcher system with metal linkage elements, allowing for a spring-assisted rocking motion. Decorative painted flourishes are present on the base.
Overall dimensions approximately 37 x 27 x 13 inches.
This piece is too large for us to ship and can only be picked up at our warehouse in Sacramento, CA. Condition
Overall fair condition consistent with age and use. Painted surfaces show extensive wear, loss, scuffing, and abrasion throughout. Horse figure exhibits surface cracking, paint loss, and areas of exposed wood, particularly to the head, legs, and body.
Saddle is heavily worn with splitting, loss, and deterioration to the covering material. Mane and tail show loss and thinning. Bridle elements present but worn.
Glider base structurally intact with wear to paint, including chips, scratches, and areas of loss. Metal linkage components show oxidation and age-related wear. The rocking horse currently rocks back-and-forth on its original hardware and glider
General surface wear, abrasions, and evidence of prolonged use throughout. Structurally stable but with condition issues as noted.
