Coiled basket of rounded, open form, attributed to the Salish peoples of the Northwest Coast. Constructed in tightly woven plant fibers, likely cedar root foundation with bear grass overlay. The exterior is decorated with imbricated polychrome geometric motifs in contrasting light and darker tones, arranged in repeating triangular and stepped elements. The basket features a braided rim, providing reinforcement and a finished edge. The imbrication technique is used throughout to create the patterned surface.
