- Lot Description
A lot consisting of three masks from Papua New Guinea featuring gray, black, cream, and ochre tones with cowrie & smaller shells. Two of the masks have an intricate woven framework forming diamond shaped openwork headdress. Two also have elongated feathers decorating them.
Dimensions: approx. 13h x 10w inches, 20h x 18w inches, and 23h x 20w inches respectively
This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA. Processing and shipping within the Continental US $85.00. All FedEx packages are sent with Direct Signature Required and insured at full replacement value for a fee of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless buyer accepts complete liability in writing. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.
Condition
Fair to Good vintage condition. Appropriate age and use related wear visible across each, including scattered pigment loss, abrasions, and surface soiling. Some of the shells are dirty or chipped. The coarse fiber is frayed and tangled. The projecting feathers are bent and partially lost. No major structural breakage. No damage or restoration revealed under blacklight. Please see photos.
