Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Washington, Neah Bay, Makah tribe, ca. 19th century CE. A wonderful spoon or ladle, skillfully hand-carved from the horn of a cow. The fascinating implement displays a petaloid body with a short, flat handle and a shallow bowl. A lovely, incised motif comprised of an undulating striation with petite dots on either side travels vertically through the interior basin, starting at the top of the handle and ending at the tip of the basin. Additional bands of incised tab motifs adorn part of the exterior peripheries. Size: 8.375" L x 2.5" W x 2.25" H (21.3 cm x 6.4 cm x 5.7 cm); 6.25" H (15.9 cm) on included custom stand.
