- Lot Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Alaska, Inuit / Yupik cultures, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. A collection of eight utilitarian and decorative implements crafted from bone and walrus ivory, comprising three spoons, a two-pronged fork, and four knives or letter openers. One knife features a handle formed from a large tooth, likely bear though possibly from a sea lion or other large marine mammal. Several pieces are adorned with incised designs depicting marine life such as fish or seals, suggesting they were produced for trade or sale. Others, including a spoon with a deep brown patina from age and use, likely served as everyday household tools. Size of largest spoon: 6.5" L x 1.25" W (16.5 cm x 3.2 cm)
