- Lot Description
Andre de Dienes (American-Hungarian, 1913-1985), silver gelatin print, 1950, printed and stamped by the artist on the verso. A large-format black and white photograph of a nude woman seated on a boulder. Striking a dynamic pose, the woman sits upon bent knees with her arms expressively presented - the right arm reaching across her torso beneath her breasts and the left arm raised as she runs her fingers through her hair. Andre de Dienes was a famous photographer, best known for photographs of Marilyn Monroe as well as tasteful photos of nude women like this example. Size: 10.5" W x 13.25" H (26.7 cm x 33.7 cm)
Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity from Chuck Murphy, the curator and manager of the archives of Andre de Dienes in Beverly Hills, California. The COA includes the following statement, "I am proud to act as curator and manager of the archives of Andre de Dienes. Surrounded with his work on a daily basis provides a constant reminder of the beauty he saw in the world and the vision he had as a master photographer."
