Central Asia, Tibet, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A vibrant silk and canvas thangka painting depicting a bodhisattva seated serenely on a moon disc atop a lotus pedestal, framed by a golden mandorla halo. The bodhisattva's left hand rests in his lap, gently cradling a bowl filled with food or prasad offerings - symbols of charity, spiritual nourishment, and divine blessings. His right hand is extended in the varada mudra, the gesture of bestowing boons or compassion. In the upper and lower corners, celestial devotees dance in joyful reverence. The composition is bordered by a luxurious silk brocade surround, with the outermost layer featuring an elegant dragon motif. The thangka is mounted in a modern wooden frame beneath glass, ready for display. Size of textile: 39" L x 30" W (99.1 cm x 76.2 cm); frame: 51" L x 42" W (129.5 cm x 106.7 cm)
