South Asia, Northeastern India to Burma, Naga Konyak culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A beaded headhunter's trophy necklace showcasing a large cast brass pendant in the form of a fish, its slightly convex surface adorned with a simplified human figure in low relief. The pendant is suspended from a strand of vibrant orange beads, accented with mottled black beads. Such necklaces were traditionally worn by Naga warriors as symbols of rank, martial achievement, and headhunting prowess. Size of strand doubled: 26" L (66 cm); pendant: 7.75" L x 2.5" W (19.7 cm x 6.4 cm)
