South Asia, Northeastern India to Burma, Naga Konyak culture, ca. early-20th century CE. A hand-carved bone hairpin, its flattened face adorned with intricate stippled and incised geometric patterns in dark pigment, creating a contrast against the creamy bone surface. Near one end, a small pierced hole may have allowed for attachment or suspension. Such hairpins were traditionally worn by Konyak Naga, often securing a topknot at the back of the head, serving both as a decorative adornment and a marker of cultural identity.
