Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Canada, British Columbia, Haida or Heiltsuk (Bella Bella), ca. 19th century CE. A rare hand-carved cedar depiction of a shaman totem figure painted in teal-blue and red. The 3 heads rest atop thick, delineated legs, and the lowest face on the waist is the most abstract: rectangular in form with drilled eyes and mouth. The next is more detailed with a pointed snout, slightly open mouth, and narrow eyes, perhaps a zoomorphic creature. The upper head is human with a wide mouth, squat nose, petite drilled eyes, and red hair. Size: 2.5" L x 2" W x 12" H (6.4 cm x 5.1 cm x 30.5 cm)
