Originally manufactured under the Merrimack Arms company logo from 1866 to 1869, a direct infringement of the Rollin White patent. However, post Civil War there were too many companies jumping on self contained cartridge pistols to successfully litigate against them all. The Designation was changed to Brown MF'G, this pistol bearing a 1867 patent date. 2 1/2" octagonal barrel, swings to the left by pushing button on underside of the brass frame. Model logo on top barrel flat. Flat bottom brass butt with rosewood grips, reminiscent of S&W number one. Serial number 4753 on brass butt and on interior of groups. Same location stamped on the barrel as first examples; Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Condition
Good overall. Bore has decent rifling with some bore corrosion.
