Carved bone pendant in the form of an eagle displayed, the head turned to its right with hooked beak and drilled eye, the breast and legs rendered in imbricated feathering, the outspread wings incised with chevron plumage and centered at the shoulders by foliate-carved roundels, the flared tail terminating in an integral pierced suspension loop. European.
Condition
Very Good. Natural grain striations and scattered dark inclusions throughout, with warm ochre toning settled in the carved recesses. Minor abrasion and softening to the high points, notably the beak and wing tips, with a few small nicks along the wing edges. Suspension loop intact; no cracks, losses, or evident repairs.
