Started in 1892 By Gustave Brachhausen, Regina music boxes were originally imported, only those of the highest quantity were acceptable. After a few years in business, the company made its own woodwork as well as all the metal components, including the difficult "combs". Regina became the pinnacle of quality for the music box trade. Pressured by the new technology of the phonograph, manufacture ceased in 1922. This floor model uses 15 1/2" metal records, forty-seven different records are included. Simple on/off switch, no repeat function. Mahogany case with floral carvings on facia, denticles below the frieze. Double comb.
Condition
Tooth loss on the top comb, these are replaceable. Minor wood loss. One section of molding needs to be re-cemented. Non original back cover. Wood is quite good for age. Mainspring is functional, the sound is quite good. Some metal records have rust which is easily removable.
