Hand-knotted carpet of Bukhara design, the deep madder-red field with columns of quartered elongated octagonal guls in ivory, black and blue, divided by cruciform minor guls. Framed by multiple narrow borders of repeating geometric motifs with ivory-ground guard stripes, and dark-ground elem panels at each end. Wool pile, with plain-woven end webs and fringe at both ends.
Condition
Very Good, with little evidence of use. Wool pile full and even throughout; guls and borders crisp, colors deep and unfaded, with no low or bare areas, holes or moth damage observed. Minor natural abrash in the red field. Fringes present, full and clean at both ends; selvedges intact and secure. Reverse shows an even, regular weave with no repairs, patching or reweaving. No staining or water marks noted. Slight waviness along one end; lies acceptably flat.
