• Lot Description
  A highly decorative molded and hand-painted figural stein, the body in high relief with a whimsical jungle scene of monkeys in trees, some swinging and others at rest. The humorous handle is formed as a full-bodied monkey grasping a branch. Text on the front panel reads: "Trag Deinen Affen mit Geduld, in dem bist du nur selber Schuld" ("Bear your monkey with patience; in that, you are only yourself to blame"). Marked GERMANY, 1199, and impressed numerals to the base.
