• Lot Description
  Late 19th to early 20th century Japanese small merchant’s storage chest (ko-tansu), crafted from hardwood with a warm reddish finish, reinforced and decorated with elaborate pierced and tooled iron hardware. The front is fitted with a lock plate, handle, and geometric iron strapwork, including stylized floral and foliate cutouts. The compact cube form is topped with an iron carrying handle.
