• Lot Description
  Hand-knotted wool pile on wool foundation. The deep navy blue field centers a large stepped hexagonal medallion in crimson red with gold/saffron outlining, enclosing an ivory ground filled with geometric floral devices and hooked motifs. The crimson red spandrels feature stylized tree-of-life (boteh) forms, small scattered rosettes, and angular floral sprays. A wide ivory main border carries a bold design of stylized palmettes, scrolling vines, and floral heads in crimson, teal green, and dark brown. Narrow inner and outer guard borders in dark brown with minor geometric running patterns. Mid 20th century.
