French Louis Philippe period flame mahogany fall-front secretary, mid 19th c., having marble top, above single drawer and fall-front cabinet, revealing inset felt writing surface, birdseye maple interior gallery with one fitted drawer and five additional drawers, over dual cabinet doors, revealing fixed-height drawers, rising on bun feet, approx 59 7/8"h, 43 1/8"w, 19 1/8"d
Cr 8.19.25-In my opinion regarding LOT 2177: Upon review of the drop-front desk with our warehouse manager, we are in agreement that there is not a lean in our opinion. The writing surface is weight-driven and slightly lowers with gentle pressure, such as that would be exerted when in use, this is inherent to the construction. I note that the secretaire stands sturdy, with minor fading concentrated near the lower cabinetry, the marble top with a few typical minor chips at edges, some of these chips at the front edge with filled concealment, all being minor and small in size, the right side panel and lower right cabinet door are intact with reinforced panel separation, the drop-front with a horizontally extending split at the central right-hand quadrant (see images), the interior gallery is overall well-kept, with smoothly operating drawers, the felt writing surface with typical staining commensurate with origin of the period and use, and a tiny spot of lifting at the top edge, additionally I observe minor evidence of woodworm commensurate with origin
