- Lot Description
George III style burlwood writing desk, attributed to Scully & Scully, 20th c., in three parts, rectangular top inset with gold-tooled leather, two frieze drawers framing central sliding keyboard tray, central kneehole flanked by pedestals containing graduated drawers and a cabinet door revealing open storage interior, on a conforming plinth, approx 32.5"h, 54"w, 30"d, kneehole: approx 26.25"h, 22"w
Condition
CR 8.27.25 - In my opinion regarding LOT 2325: I note that the desk is finished on all sides, with the back and sides being paneled. The leather inset remains secure bound throughout edges with typical light tonal variations associated with patination and minor surface wear commensurate with age and use. The drawers operate smoothly, and the keyboard rest appears to be later and is finished in a varied veneer. The lowermost file cabinet on the right-hand side pedestal appears to be on modern tracks. Cabinet interior remains overall well-kept/ clean. I observe some very minute evidence of old woodworm seemingly contained to the lower edges which is commensurate with origin, and there is sparse minor surface wear such as small nicks and a few chips commensurate with age and use.
