- Lot Description
Large Louis XVI style gilt oval wall mirror, having crossed torch and quiver of arrows crest with central bird motif, above molded cushion frame, with rocaille appliques and foliate trim, encasing flat mirror plates, approx 73"h, 54"w, 6"d
Condition
CR 8.20.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3491-Please pardon my images the mirror is located in a fairly cramped area of the gallery, the mirror is currently hung on the wall and hanging hardware may have been added since the time of photography, please refer to online images for a photo of the back, the mirror is impressive in size, I note some overall general restorations to crest, flowers, foliates and trailing vines, there is flaking to paint, spotting, loss and wear to gilt and paintings surfaces with overall painted touchups and tonal variation, the central mirror plate is beveled and free of chips or cracks, the surrounding mirror plates are in two parts, there is a slight noticeable gap between the two located behind the two at the shell accents, I am cannot fully view this, see images, trim and beadwork show some rubs, wear and small chips, the mirror appears to have age, however the crest may be molded (resin?), I am unsure, please refer to numerous images for your review.
