Vintage American Waltham wristwatch – 14K gold-filled Wadsworth case – manual-wind movement – circa 1920s Art Deco era.
Description:
This elegant American Waltham Watch Company (A.W.W.Co.) wristwatch captures the refined design sensibilities of the 1920s, blending early wristwatch innovation with the precision for which Waltham was renowned.
The movement, engraved “A.W.W.Co., Waltham, U.S.A., Adjusted” and numbered 267465, is a beautifully finished mechanical movement with fine damaskeening (engine-turned decorative patterning). This mid-grade movement showcases Waltham’s signature engineering precision during the post–World War I period, when the company was transitioning from pocket to wristwatch production.
The dial features a classic champagne tone with bold black Art Deco numerals, subseconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued-steel cathedral-style hands. The square-cushion shape and engraved bezel add an unmistakable 1920s flair, evoking the style of the Jazz Age and early modernist design.
Housed in a Wadsworth 14K gold-filled case, the inside back cover is clearly stamped:
“WALTHAM – Wadsworth Quality – 14 Karat Gold Filled – 8350784.”
The Wadsworth Watch Case Company was a frequent supplier to Waltham during this period, known for its superior gold-filled and solid gold casings.
The movement is clean, intact, and finely detailed, though function not tested.
