Swiss Locle Patent Lever pocket watch – full jewelled – 18K solid gold hunter case – late 1800s craftsmanship.
Offered here is a fine late 19th-century Swiss “Patent Lever” pocket watch from Locle, a region famed for its horological excellence and home to several of Switzerland’s premier watchmakers. This elegant timepiece is housed in a finely crafted 18K solid gold case, marked internally and exhibiting the rich yellow tone typical of high-karat Swiss goldwork.
The white enamel dial features black Roman numerals, a sub-seconds register at 6 o’clock, and elegant blued-steel spade hands. The dial presents beautifully with only faint hairlines visible under magnification, consistent with careful preservation over more than a century.
The movement is signed:
“Locle – Patent Lever – Full Jewelled.”
The gilt-finished movement showcases precision Swiss engineering, with jeweled bearings on all major pivots, lever escapement, and bimetallic balance. The bridges display a traditional three-quarter layout with quality hand-finishing and blued screws, typical of late 1800s Locle production.
The case interior is stamped and hallmarked for 18K solid gold, with matching serial numbers on the covers. The hunter case is elegantly engraved and retains firm hinges and a strong spring action, opening cleanly to reveal the dial.
This fine Swiss lever watch winds and sets correctly; its running condition is untested and it is offered as-is.
Swiss Locle-made lever watches of the late 19th century were known for their quality and reliability, often produced by top-tier manufacturers for export to English and American markets. The solid 18K case adds significant intrinsic and collectible value.
Comparable examples of 18K Locle lever pocket watches typically trade between $1,400 and $2,200, depending on weight and cosmetic condition.
This example, featuring excellent preservation and elegant design, is valued around $1,850.
Offered for sale as-is, this Locle Patent Lever 18K gold pocket watch stands as a timeless piece of Swiss craftsmanship—refined, durable, and historically significant in the evolution of fine mechanical timepieces.
