Watch is in working, running condition but is untested for timekeeping, offered as-is.
Hamilton 933 high-grade 21-jewel pocket watch – 10K gold-filled Keystone case – adjusted to 5 positions – circa 1907 railroad-era precision.
Offered here is an exceptional early 20th-century Hamilton Watch Co. Grade 933 pocket watch, crafted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania around 1907. The Grade 933 was part of Hamilton’s elite early line of 21-jewel railroad-quality movements, designed for precision and reliability.
The white enamel dial displays bold black Arabic numerals with red 5-minute outer markers, a sub-seconds register at 6 o’clock, and elegant blued steel spade-and-whip hands. The dial is signed “Hamilton” in classic script. Minor age spotting is visible under magnification but does not detract from its strong presentation.
The movement is finely damaskeened and marked:
“Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Pa., 21 Jewels, Adjusted 5 Positions, 933.”
This movement, serial number 761479, confirms production circa 1907. It features screw-set ruby jewels, Breguet hairspring, micrometric regulator, and gold train wheels—hallmarks of Hamilton’s finest craftsmanship. The adjustment to 5 positions and lever setting mechanism ensured compliance with early 20th-century railroad standards.
The case is a sturdy 10K gold-filled Keystone J. Boss model, serial number 9966247, marked inside the rear cover. The polished case remains in very good antique condition, with light wear consistent with age. The inner dust cover is inscribed:
“Anna Grezske – 1902.”
This engraving adds a lovely personal provenance to the piece, suggesting it was cherished as a special presentation or family heirloom.
The watch winds and sets correctly; running condition is untested and it is offered as-is.
The Hamilton Grade 933 was one of the earliest high-grade 21-jewel movements produced by Hamilton, preceding their better-known 992 railroad standard. Fewer examples were made, making them highly collectible today.
Comparable Grade 933 watches in Keystone cases and good cosmetic condition typically sell between $900 and $1,400, depending on originality and finish.
Given its fine movement condition, strong case, and personal engraving from 1902, this example is valued around $1,100.
Offered for sale as-is, this Hamilton 933 21-jewel pocket watch represents a beautifully preserved piece of American horological history—a precision instrument built during the golden age of railroad timekeeping.
