Presented here is a fine 19th-century Swiss-made ladies’ pendant watch, an elegant miniature timepiece showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of the late Victorian era. This example features a solid 14K gold (.585) case with Swiss hallmark stamps including a squirrel and fineness mark “.585”, denoting 14-karat purity.
The white enamel dial bears black Roman numerals, an outer dot minute track, and delicately engraved gilt hands. The dial displays slight surface wear consistent with age but remains in good overall condition, with its refined simplicity typical of continental pendant watches designed for both beauty and function.
The gilt full-plate movement is finely constructed, marked with “R.Y.” and “Swiss,” featuring cut balance, lever escapement, and hand-finished bridges with polished screw heads. The high-grade gilt finish is characteristic of late-19th-century Geneva and Jura workshops, emphasizing mechanical precision within compact ladies’ formats.
The 14K gold case is engraved with an elegant floral and star motif around the bezel and back, with soft luster and light patina from careful handling over time. The hinged back and dust covers open smoothly, revealing interior hallmarks and the movement’s warm gilt tones.
This pendant-style watch winds and sets via the crown, running condition untested, and is offered as-is.
Swiss-made ladies’ pendant watches in solid 14K gold are admired for their petite elegance and intricate engraving. The hallmarked .585 case and well-preserved gilt movement contribute to its desirability among collectors of 19th-century Swiss horology.
Comparable examples generally sell in the $550–$800 range, with higher prices realized for engraved cases in fine condition.
This piece, exhibiting attractive design, clean enamel, and full gold construction, is valued around $725.
Offered for sale as-is, this Swiss ladies’ 14K pendant watch represents both an exquisite artifact of 19th-century craftsmanship and a timeless piece of wearable elegance.
