Large carved green serpentine whale sculpture by Inuit artist Jomie Aipeelee, depicted in an arcing pose and mounted on a matching serpentine base by a wooden peg. The stone features mottled dark-green and yellowing veining with a smooth hand-polished surface. The underside side of the base is signed “Jomie Aipeelee,” and references Cape Dorset/Kinngait, Nunavut. Sculpture is in good condition with minor handling wear. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Jomie Aipeelee (1963-2020) was an Inuit sculptor from Iqaluit, known for finely craved muskox, marine mammals, and birds, typically in serpentine. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Most items are eligible for in-house shipping. A separate shipping invoice will be sent within 5 business days of the auction close. Large, heavy, fragile, or high-value items will receive a UPS shipping quote. Buyers may request a list of recommended third-party shippers if preferred. All shipping costs are non-refundable. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
