A fine antique Chinese carved duan inkstone with a beautifully carved cover featuring blooming prunus on prunus limb and branches. This inkstone dates to late 19th C. From our independent appraiser:"The inkstone is one of the Four Treasures of the Scholar’s Studio, alongside the brush, inkstick, and paper. Used for over a thousand years, inkstones were essential tools for Chinese scholars, calligraphers, and painters, serving as both functional objects and symbols of literary refinement.
