- Lot Description
This oil on linen is most likely an imitation by an art student after Arthur John Elsley (1860 - 1952), a very popular English artist known for his sentimental treatment of children and their pets. This particular image is of Don't Be Afraid, executed in 1910.
The reproduction must surely have been created contemporaneously as it bears the age and style of the original composition. Don't Be Afraid has appeared in countless adaptations over the years and is loveable because of the children and dogs.
I have found no information on the artist H. Baker, but his faithfulness to the original is quite good.

We ship USPS by default. If dimensions exceed its limits, we will ship via FedEx. If it is not available, we will use UShip. In exceptional cases, we will use specialized art carrier firms.
Some items will require a foam lined box to travel safely. In such cases, a surcharge of 75 - 400 USD would be required. This surcharge would be eligible for a partial refund of 50 - 350 USD if the box is returned in good condition. We will indicate this requirement in the listing.
Customers may opt out of special packaging but also agree to accept the risks.
If special packaging or carriers (i.e. non USPS/non FedEx) are required, delays in shipping may be incurred.
Let us know if you require a signature for delivery. Customers may always request special packaging for shipment. We are happy to provide a quote in such cases.
All packages are insured for hammer price plus buyer's premium.

Good - the painting has been patched and restored. There are small losses here and there on the frame - meaning that the gilding scraped.

Bonn Auctions normally ships all online auction lots via United States Postal Service Priority Mail. Exceptions will be noted in the lot listing. Customers are charged for shipping, handling, and insurance, which is a bargain for the amount of care we put into safely packaging your purchases. We pay for the boxes and packaging.
